- Race Report 2009
Thanks to those who Ached and Ouched in Support of St. Luke's! It was a great race morning. See you next year!!!
If you participated in the race or even looked out your window Saturday morning, you know we were up against the weather. Even though a 1 AM thunderstorm had race organizers worrying, the rain stayed away and it turned out to be a beautiful morning at Lake Lanier.
Registration, shuttles, chip pick-up all went fairly smoothly. Over 200 Achers and Ouchers pounded the lake roadway and pushed through to the finish on the dam. 18-year-old Polk County student John Wolfe of Tryon led the pack and won the 8K Ache with an astounding 29:49 (that's a 6 minute mile!).

Veteran State Champion Susi Smith, 49, of Greenville took the top female overall spot with a finish time of 33:08 (6:40 pace). 10-year-old Britain Hamrick of Saluda claimed the top spot at the 2-mile "Ouch" with a super-impressive 15:56 finish! Triathlete Coach and Race Director Katie Malone's Weimaraner Pepe' won "Top Dog" with human racing partner Chad Crocker finishing the 8K in 38:42. Thanks to all those who came out on that "iffy" Saturday morning in support of St. Luke's Hospital Foundation. We'll see you next year!!!
